THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE NASFL MUSEUM:
  • Every year on December 5, we have a Flight 19 Ceremony performed at the Navy Park next to the Fort Lauderdale Airport control tower, in which we remember the 95 young Americans that lost their lives at the NAS Fort Lauderdale base during 1942-1945— the three most intensive training years of the war. Included are the servicemen of the Flight 19 that vanished in the Bermuda Triangle. The disappearance of Flight 19 still captures people's imagination. This story continues to be featured in countless documentaries, books and articles. People view this Museum as a gatekeeper for facts surrounding the event.

  • Bi-monthly Luncheons with interesting guest speakers at the beautiful Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club and the opportunity to meet and share with members of our greatest generation. (A $25 reservation fee per person if you attend).

  • Free access to exhibits, memorabilia, historical records, photographs, research library, and interactive website.

  • The chance to contribute and make a difference with our volunteer/docent program.

  • Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to contribute their time, expertise, ideas or organize events that will benefit our Community and this Museum. There is something for everyone.

  • An exclusive invitation to our yearly Holiday Party at the Museum.

  • The opportunity to share with the world your family's history, especially to honor individuals that served during WWII. A CD copy of the contributor's page is available upon request. The honoree's pictures and biography are displayed on the Museum's website: Member Spotlight. You will preserve your personal history in the Museum archives, adding to the value and depth for visitors to have a better understanding of the people who served their country.

  • You will receive The Avenger, our quarterly newsletter available both in Print and Digital format.

  • The opportunity to contribute and experience first hand the growth and stages of completion of this historic Museum.

The original Avenger Newspaper started during WWII for the personnel at the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale. It stopped printing after the war ended. The NASFL Historical Association began a print newsletter for its members in 1995.  We have them all archived at the Museum, and soon we will begin to curate for digital form and available for viewing.  We are going to start with our first "The Avenger" Newsletter for our April - June 2011 Digital Issue.   Each current issue will be showcased on the screen.  Then we will begin to archive them and place links with their corresponding dates, for you to view or download. From now on you'll be able to view, download or print the PDF document directly from our website. Feel free to share it, save it or print from it.
